| The inspection of
the body was begun at the morgue in Dosher Hospital in
Southport, mere blocks away from Indigo Ferry Landing.
The attending doctor Dr. Hiltz began a series of
mistakes, starting with listing Davina as weighing 140
pounds and being 5 feet 2 inches tall. Davina actually
stood 4 feet 9 and weighed scarcely 90 pounds. Further,
he drew the gun shot wound to her being behind her right
ear. He wrote that it was a large wound with tissue
exiting, with no other injuries. On the form, Hiltz
checked that the death was a probably homicide. That
conclusion was later amended. |

| The body was sent to
Jacksonville for an official autopsy. Dr. Garrett
performed the autopsy and recovered the bullet. His
drawing showed the bullet wound at the middle of the skull
in the rear. However, the wound was drawn upside down. Dr.
Garrett wrote no opinion. That opinion would be added
later by someone at Chapel Hill. |

| An actual
picture from the autopsy ends the argument as to which
drawing is correct - and the knowledge that neither is. If
you click the head on the right, you will go to a picture
that shows the actual head wound. |
